Independence day: The celebrations were in three stages. On 12th the celebrations began in the Don Bosco English Medium School with a well prepared cultural programme by the students followed by the P.T.A. meeting. On 12th itself there another cultural programme in the Kannada Medium School. But on the day itself the real celebration was in the Kannada Medium School. The day began by the Panchayath member hoisting the National flag in the presence of all the students and teachers of the school, a large gathering of the parents and most parishioners from Holy Cross Church. An impressive display of drill by the students was the highlight of the day.

 Month of Don Bosco: In very many of our Salesian houses month of August is month dedicated to Mary. But for Holy Cross Church, Pavur, this month is celebrated as Don Bosco month. As Don Bosco’s relic is not coming to us in Pavur we together with the parishioners are going to visit him at Shirva. The month began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration on 1st of August. Everyday we recite the prayer, for the success of DB’s relic’s pilgrimage, during the Mass. On 16th, the official beginning of the three year preparation for the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco, we at Pavur began the novena in honour of Don Bosco as an immediate preparation for our visiting the Relic of Don Bosco at Shirva.

MLA distributes study kit for Tribal Students
On 28th May 2011 most of our tribal students together parents gathered together in VALP School run by Holy Cross, Pavur. They were given a study kit, consisting of school bag, books, pen, pencil, sketch pens etc. It was an initiative of Manjeshwar Grama Panchayath. The programme was enriched by the presence of our new MLA, Mr Abdul Razak.

Holy Cross Church Pavur Celebrates Rosary Month

This year the month October, traditionally known as Rosary month was very special for our Parish, Holy Cross Church, Pavur especially as we are in the preparation for the centenary celebration of the Parish.
The month started with Solemn Sung Mass at 9am in the nearby AC (Apostolic Carmel) Convent as it was also the feast of St. Theresa of Child Jesus. Every Monday to Friday at 5.30pm there was Rosary service in the church and on Friday it was followed by Mass. Every Saturday the Rosary service & Mass at 8.30am to make it convenient for school going children & Legion of Mary members; and on Sundays the recitation of the Rosary was according to the wards in their place.
          On the feast day, on 7th, we had Mass in the evening followed by candle procession around the church upto the Grotto of Our Lady reciting the Rosary.
          The Conclusion of the Rosary Month on 31st was solemnised with:
·        Mass in evening at ‘Kurushada gutte’ (hillock around the Cross) a few furlongs away from the church
·        Procession to the Church with lighted candles reciting  Rosary & final blessing
